Why You Can't Lose Weight?

You can't lose weight even though you're exhausted by diets and exercise? What is it that you are doing wrong?

You are careful about nutrition, you take enough vitamins, lead a healthy life with hours of exercise. But, still, you don't have the body you've always wished for.

Just to feel better - you are not alone. In fact, this problem is quite often. Even though we often blame the genetics and we doubt that the celebrities have secrets about their perfect look, maybe better we should analyze the reasons that cause this phenomenon.

1. You exercise the wrong way

The meaning of the basics - Exercises are supposed to be fun, but if you want to get rid of the fat, you go to the gym. It seems like all of the gym equipment is for men, but it is not true. Some exercise should be kept in the plan no matter how dull they are, like standups and weights exercise.

Cut down the cardio-Most woman think that with cardio exercise they can burn down more calories. That is true. But, they forget that they also take less food. You need weight exercise to burn down the fat.

Dedicate to exercise-On joint train sessions you create friendships, which is great. The bad thing is talking to your friends instead of performing the proper exercises.

2. Your brain thinks you starve yourself

Although we believe that a diet is a good idea, our brain does not agree, but often acts as a victim of starvation, while trying to overcome the strong urge to eat. Studies have shown that people can have psychological consequences of a diet, such as food obsessions and dreams about food. As a result of that, many people return their lost pounds in short term.

3. Diet is a stressful experience

You count your calories, keep your diet journal, you search for healthy meals- and what you get? It's only a few pounds less a month. That's stressful. It seems like you are starving yourself. Counting calories produces stress, which leads to gaining weight. Instead of counting calories, try eating whenever you're hungry and stop eating when you are not. That way you have less chance of gaining weight.

4. Your metabolism works against you

Metabolism is a great thing when you are young, you can eat anything you want and not worry about the consequences. But with age, this significantly changes. When you start the diet, it influences on the metabolism, which can significantly slow down six to seven years after the diet.

5. You listen to your inner voices

There's a reason you're hungry every time you look at a food commercial. The hormone leptin tells the brain how much collected energy is available and reduces the attractiveness of food for those who have a normal amount of energy. Therefore, those who are on a diet and have less energy easily succumb to temptation in front of the images of food.

6. Diet fails in the long run

Surely you sometimes have the impression that you have lost a lot of weight while you were on a diet, but the scale did not confirm it. According to research, even 95 percent of diets fail and most people regain their original weight. It was also found that those who hold a diet are more likely to become obese, primarily because after the diet quickly get fat than muscle.

7. The strength of will is a consumable thing

When you go on a diet, you are determined not to give in to junk food and to hold regular exercise. However, when you are overwhelmed by thoughts of tasty food, you certainly feel envy toward those who can eat what they want and when they want. Therefore, it is relying on willpower hard work for everyone.

8. You don't have a plan

Planning is your greatest ally in the fight against weight. Plan your meals in advance, and days when you eat "forbidden" foods. Knowing what you have for a meal, you will help you in eliminating the temptation. If you do not have healthy options and a plan, you will be tempted to indulge in the things you are trying to avoid. Lack of plan is planning collapse.

9. You don't get enough sleep

If you don't get enough sleep, your body produces hormones that encourage the collection of fat in the body. Studies have shown a link between the amount of sleep that you practice and the number of pounds that you have. A 2004 study at the University of Chicago shows that the dream of most affects the appetite because of the amount of sleep depends on the balance of hormones leptin and ghrelin, which are controllers of appetite. The ideal is to sleep 7-9 hours every night. Easier said than done in our fast- going world, but it's worth the effort!

10. You are dehydrated

Approximately 70% of the human body consists of water. You do not have to be a scientist to understand how important it is to properly hydrate! Water is essential for proper digestion and detoxification - important components of weight loss. Try not to drink water on a daily basis (in liters) approximate amount of 1/5 of your weight. Of course in this calculation insert the consumption of fruits and vegetables.

11. Your hormones aren't balanced

Often hormones can bother to weight loss and it becomes even more difficult than it normally is. High cortisol (hormone of stress) causes increased insulin, which has influence on your appetite-you eat more. Another problem appears when you have dysfunction of the thyroid gland. It can lead to weight gain from a buildup of salt and water in your body. An overactive thyroid is called hyperthyroidism. Many people with it lose weight, but others pick up extra pounds because it can make you feel hungrier. There is, also, a problem when it comes to unbalanced reproductive hormones. That situation can also lead to weight gain and stress.

12. Consuming alcohol

People work hard at the gym, lose weight and gain muscles, but they quickly overturn their efforts by regularly consuming alcohol. Studies have shown that alcohol has a detrimental influence on muscle growth, so all your hard work is negated. Alcohol also contains calories. You can help yourself by making a limit on one to two drinks a few times a week.Or, much better, stop drinking!

13. You are sitting down

Most of us spend our day sitting on our desks at the office. After that you go to the gym and do workouts or exercises that require you to sit down or lay down. When you exercise sitting or lying down, you won't make a significant change in your body structure. Instead, there are many other types of exercise that will give you results more quickly.

14. You skip breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. That is the way you get all the energy you need during the start of the day. By skipping it you only make it worse. Starting your day eating does not mean that you eat too much. It means that you make sure that you'll do all your work. Studies have shown that people who have muesli for breakfast usually get hungry much faster than people who eat something salty. So, you need to be careful about what you eat for breakfast. There are so many suggestions for healthy breakfast, all you have to do is just pick up.

15. You eat too much for the weekend

We all know that the weekend is the time when we chill out and slow down with our rules. And it includes our diet. We eat all that is forbidden and swear that we'll get it right first thing on Monday. That is a big mistake. If you have been trying - exercising and eating right all week, don't ruin it for the weekend. You will have to start all over again. Don't throw away all your efforts. But, it does not mean that you don't have to treat yourself. For the weekend take something you like to eat, but don't overdo.

16. You are eating outside and not cooking at home

You are used to go to a restaurant or take home food after work. You should not do that, unless you know that they cook healthy and use healthy products. Assume they're using the worst vegetable oils, heavy amounts of butter and oil, and poor-quality produce.Learn to love your kitchen! That way you will be sure exactly what you eat.

17. You're not eating good fats

"Good" or unsaturated fats are found in nuts, avocado and olive-oil. When you eat them you brain gets the message that you're full. These fats appear to trigger the production of a compound in the small intestine called oleoylethanolamide. It reaches nerve endings that carry messages to the brain to curb hunger, and activates a brain circuit that makes you feel full. Just to make sure you have eaten enough, take a handful of nuts a day or one sixth of an avocado.

Four Effective Hair Loss Solutions

More than one hundred million Americans struggle with hair loss. Although more common in males, about forty percent of sufferers are female. But regardless of sex, almost all cases of baldness (about 95 percent) are caused by genetic factors. In other words, most folks are destined to lose their locks from birth. With that said, there are steps you can take to slow, stop, even reverse the process. Here are four proven hair loss solutions.

Often sought by patients with advanced cases of alopecia (baldness), transplantation is a surgical procedure performed in a doctor's office. The operation involves removing a section of permanent hair from the back of the scalp and using it to fill in areas with no or thinning locks. Although these transplanted strands soon fall out, about 60 percent of them will grow again, leading to a thicker, fuller hairdo. Because the surgery itself is performed by a doctor and takes many hours to complete, it can be quite pricey. It is actually not at all uncommon for patients to spend over $10,000 on the procedure. With that said, most folks are satisfied with the results.

While there's certainly no shortage of home remedies, only two drugs are considered hair loss solutions by the FDA. Minoxidil is a topical treatment that slows or stops alopecia in about 40 percent of users. Affordable and widely available, it is the only over-the-counter treatment for the common condition. The only significant drawback of using minoxidil is that it must be applied for life.

The second FDA-approved medication is a prescription pill called finasteride. Considered by some users to be slightly more effective than minoxidil, it must also be taken indefinitely. We should also note that finasteride has not been approved for use by women. In fact, one study found it to be no more effective than placebo for female users.

Easily the oldest solution on our list: wigs. Wigs have been around since the ancient Egyptians. Just as they were back then, hairpieces are fashion accessories that can also be used to conceal total, substantial, even partial baldness. Affordable and easy to find, they can be purchased at most salons and even some drugstores.

Hair Extensions

Whether they are clipped, sewn, glued, fused, or taped in place, extensions can add volume to any hairdo. Although often applied for a fashionable effect, extensions can also be used to cover and conceal thinning areas and bald spots. But because some systems can damage remaining strands, it is important to tell your stylist that you are losing your locks. She can then select extensions that will not endanger your natural hair.

All of the hair loss solutions we discussed today are open to any person struggling with alopecia.

What Is Laser Hair Therapy?

Dealing with hair loss can be embarrassing. The reason for the loss does not matter; it could be due to a prolonged illness, or it could be genetic. Non-invasive techniques can help restore what you have lost. Laser hair therapy is one of the many options you have to help bolster your self-esteem and even prevent future loss.

What Is Laser Hair Therapy?

This is a non-invasive technique that utilizes infrared light on the scalp to stimulate growth. The compressed, cold light wavelength penetrates the skin and stimulates microcirculation. This improves cellular metabolism and results in better protein synthesis, which leads to a fuller head of hair that is stronger and thicker than before.

How Does It Work?

These treatments work by sending infrared light to the scalp. The frequency of the infrared light stimulates the cells, which in turn increases blood flow and oxygen to the follicles. This switches the follicles from the dormant, or rest phase to the growth phase. In studies, approximately 70 percent of the follicles bombarded by the infrared light move into the growth phase.

What Are the Side Effects?

One of the best things about laser hair therapy is there are no known side effects. Despite using an infrared light for the procedure, it is painless. The "cold' light doesn't burn, and there is no UV exposure. The entire procedure is non-invasive and non-surgical. You can resume your normal activities immediately following your treatments. Some patients even read or watch TV during their therapy sessions.

Could You Be a Candidate?

Laser hair therapy is effective for both men and women. Anyone who has noticed thinning locks can use the therapy to regrow their own natural mane. Those who have undergone transplant surgery also benefit from the treatments. For those patients, it is a follow-up to the invasive procedure, which helps heal the scalp faster. It also stimulates the newly transplanted tissue for quicker regrowth.

Those who suffer from Alopecia or undergo treatments such as chemotherapy can benefit from this therapy as well. In addition to using non-surgical grafts and prosthetics, this therapy can help to enhance your overall appearance.

How Does It Work for Loss Prevention?

For those who are in the early stages of loss, thinning is your biggest concern. The same techniques used to restore your tresses also stop them from falling out. This preventative maintenance is coupled with a topical loss prevention system in the form of shampoos, conditioners, or salves. The topical formula reduces your body's DHT production, which is a hormone responsible for shrinking your follicles.

Should You See a Specialist?

There are many over-the-counter options making similar claims to restoring your locks to their former glory. However, many of these systems do not work as advertised. Additionally, while these laser hair systems do use cold light, there is always a chance of injury due to negligent use. A specialist knows exactly what to do, what settings to use, and how long each treatment should last. This ensures that you are getting the safest and best treatment.

How To Maximize Hair Growth Using Castor Oil

Falling hair is a common problem that affects almost all kinds of people - young or old, rich or poor, men and women. This may be due to the presence of harsh chemicals in some shampoos, conditioners and hair care products that majority of people use every day. Or this could also be attributed to hereditary, the presence of chronic illnesses like cancer, or as a part of postpartum stage in women after giving birth.

But whatever is the cause of hair fall, it is important that this will be given immediate attention before it becomes worse.

There are many products in the market that claim to treat and prevent hair fall. There are even some brands of shampoos that reportedly prevent balding due to hairfall. But since time immemorial, there is one natural product that has really been proven very effective in treating and preventing hair fall. This natural product is castor oil.

Castor oil is a derivative of seeds from the castor oil plant. It has been traditionally used as a laxative, for beauty treatment and to treat skin conditions such as acne and rashes. But it is most effective in hair regrowth and keeping both the hair and scalp healthy.

Castor oil for hair growth works effectively in helping you regrow your hair by up to five times the normal growth since it contains ricinoleic acid that helps increase blood circulation to the scalp.

But what makes castor oil very effective is it contains antibacterial and anti-fungal properties that help fight folliculitis, dandruff, ringworm, piedra and other forms of scalp infections, which literally work to make your scalp and hair healthy.

Ricinoleic acid also works to balance your scalp's pH level and help replenish the natural oils found in the scalp that may have been lost by harsh chemicals in the hair care products you use.

Aside from chemicals in shampoos and hair care products, scalp problems arise due to the over alkalinity of the scalp but with the ricinoleic acid in this oil, the pH level of the scalp will slowly return to normal.

In addition to antibacterial and anti-fungal properties, castor oil also contains a considerable amount of antioxidants like vitamin E that support the hair's keratin, making the strands stronger and smoother, and less frizzy.

It also contains omega-6 fatty acids, minerals and proteins that are very important in promoting a healthy hair and scalp.

Castor oil for hair growth works to make the hair richer, darker, shiny and moisturized while preventing split ends.

So if you want to regrow your hair the natural way, just use this oil and you get not only healthy and stronger hair but also healthy scalp.

The Best Hair Loss Home Remedies

It's no secret that people put in a lot of effort to look good and presentable. However, no matter how great your overall appearance is, if you suffer from hair loss then this can affect you negatively. When hair strands begin to fall rapidly, the overall volume decreases and you might even experience receding hair-line.

Before this scenario gets worse, it is important that you start early treatment. Most people prefer home remedies over prescription drugs because they want to improve the health of their hair without the use of chemical products.

Below are some of the best hair loss home remedies that you can try for quick results.

Increase nutrients intake

Nutrient deficiency can affect the health of your hair. When your diet is lacking in sufficient amounts of iron, zinc and vitamin A, not only does hair start to fall but it also begins to lack shine and body.

Thus, you need to take foods rich in these nutrients to improve the health of your scalp. Fish, meat, nuts, seeds as well as healthy fats are all good sources of these nutrients. Make sure to add iron-rich foods to your diet and you will notice good results quickly.

Whip up a blend of hair oils

Hair oils are very important for stronger, shinier hair. The strands can become dry and damaged due to many factors including the hair care products we use. It is important to apply oil to your hair at least every two weeks. This way, your hair will become softer and more healthier in no time.

Some of the best oils that you can use include almond, mustard, coconut as well as extra virgin olive oil. These are popular oils in many countries and many women swear by the effectiveness of oiling hair regularly. You can mix a couple of different oils together to boost their beneficial properties.

Apply deep protein treatments

Our hair requires protein to stay strong and healthy. Applying protein treatments externally is one of the best ways to coat and fill the strands. You can easily make your own protein mask simply by whipping an egg along with a little amount of oil and some lemon juice. Apply the mixture in sections and allow to sit for half an hour. Then rinse and wash as usual. You will notice that your hair is thicker and shinier afterwards.

Another easy hair mask you can try is avocado pulp mixed with a few spoons of mayonnaise. Apply all over your head and allow the mixture to sit for some time. Then go ahead and rinse it out completely before washing with shampoo or any other hair cleanser of your choice.

Be careful with wet hair

The way we dry wet hair after washing is very important. Some people dry their hair by rigorously rubbing them between a towel. However, this is damaging since wet hair is very weak and prone to breakage.

Instead of a heavy towel, use a spare t-shirt instead. The fibers of the t-shirt are softer and they will also absorb excess moisture without the need for vigorous rubbing.

Take herbal supplements

Another way to promote good health of your hair is to take herbal supplements. These products are safe and natural and can help increase the growth rate as well as strengthen hair. Herbal supplements also help fight scalp infections that are responsible for weak hair follicles.

Massage scalp regularly

Apart from the above, you can also try scalp massage at home. Simply rub the tips of your fingers all over your scalp to increase blood flow to the area. Proper blood circulation in the scalp region helps to provide the nutrients necessary for faster growth.

Healing Acne The Natural Way

Treating acne problems is no ordinary feat. Some people may respond to conventional treatments while others don't. Some may produce noticeable improvements after a period of treatment only to have the problem recur at some future time. Topical preparations of benzoyl peroxide, resorcinol, salicylic acid and sulfur are among the most common over the counter medications for mild inflammatory acne. Moderate to severe cases are treated with prescription drugs - topical or oral, or a combination of the two. Conventional treatments with topical or oral preparations, while proven effective, may cause certain side effects. Negative reactions to acne medications may include itching, headaches, muscle pain or hair loss. Some reported incidence pf dizzy spells, upset stomach or skin irritation, discoloration, scaling, peeling and burning sensation. Some medications (tetracycline) affect tooth and bone development in unborn fetuses while others (tetracycline, minocycline) tend to decrease the effectiveness of birth control pills. Researchers even reported that one acne medication called isotretinoin may even cause birth defects if taken by pregnant women! You might really want to get rid of that acne, but now that you are aware of the possible side effects of certain medication, can you take the risk? A considerable number of people now prefer alternative methods of treating acne. While these methods may treat the problem at a slower pace, they are considered less dangerous. Please read on. Who knows? You may want to consider these methods in going about your acne problem.

Herbal Medicine. There is a variety of herbal medicine available to fight and ward off acne. You can use either black currant seed oil or evening primrose oil supplements. Taking three 500 milligram capsules a day for about three months produces noticeable improvement.

If you are a tea drinker, you may want to try calendula, echinea, goldenseal or tea tree oil or you may go with the Chinese herbalists' recommendations and use a combination of cnidium and honeysuckle flower to treat the condition.

If you feel, however, that stress contributes to your acne outbreak, counter it with an aromatic cup of lavender or chamomile tea. If this does not sooth your nerves, nothing else will!

Vitamin Therapy. A lot of vitamin preparations may be used in the fight against acne. Taking a daily supplement of 30 to 50 milligram of Zinc may aid in reducing the inflammation of the lesions. It may also contribute in the faster healing of the damaged skin.

Vitamin A preparations helps minimize the production of sebum and keratin. Sebum, as we all know, is the natural lubricant produced by the body for our skin and hair. Reducing sebum production may minimize clogging of the pores, which is believed to be one of the major causes of acne. Please note, however, that taking mega doses of Vitamin A may cause side effects. This includes headaches, fatigue, joints and muscle pain, among others. Consult first with a qualified practitioner before deciding to take mega supplements of this vitamin.

Other vitamins that may support the body's natural defense system in warding off acne include chromium (by helping the body in breaking down glucose), vitamin E (an antioxidant) and vitamin B6 (aids in the metabolism of hormones).

There are still a lot of other alternative treatments for acne. Keep reading for more on the second part of this article.

How To Take Care Of Feet

Taking care of feet is often a neglected area of our daily body-care routine. These great parts of our bodies are carrying us around (no matter how heavy we are) all day long and all we want them to, frequently in very uncomfortable shoes and some socks that don't even breathe.

When our feet get tired, we feel fatigued overall. If that happens to you a lot, it's time to apply some benefits for your much needed and valuable - feet.

First of all, wear comfortable shoes. I don't know which ones are best for you. Find a pair in which your feet feel natural. That alone will make a huge difference in the way you feel.

Second, whenever you're wearing socks, they should be made out of a breathable material. Otherwise, your feet feel like your hands do while wearing latex gloves for a long time.

Third, your feet, just as every part of your body, deserve some loving care. At night, just before you go to bed, put some lotion or cream on your dry and clean feet. It doesn't have to be any special kind (as long as there's no troubled areas on your feet); almost any hand cream or regular body lotion should do.

The important thing that truly makes a difference is: don't just apply. Take a minute or even better - two and massage the entire feet area (don't skip a pinky toe!), apply as much lotion as necessary, and enjoy the refreshingly energizing sensation of your tiredness departing your body.

If nothing else, your hills won't be all that dry anymore. Plus, it's going to be so much easier to go to sleep.

Acne affects a surprisingly large proportion of the population, but that's not much comfort -- is it? Misery loves company, but I'm not sure that statement refers to the misery caused by acne. But cheer up, because help is on the horizon!

If you too suffer from acne, you need help and you need it now! That's because although acne isn't a serious disease, it can sure cause you a lot of trouble! It's miserable having your face covered with pimples and lasting scars can remain that may be disfiguring.

To begin with, you should know what causes acne before you can effectively fight it. It's a skin disease that involves the pores of the skin becoming blocked up with oil from the sebaceous glands. The oil is supposed to go through the tiny pores on your skin and be eliminated, but when dead skin cells get all tangled up with the excess oil, your pores will get plugged up. That's when a bacterial infection can grow. The bacteria release chemicals that call out to your body's white blood cells to come and attack them. Now there's a war right on your face, back, chest or neck. The whole mess ends up in the eruption of unwelcome pimples.

Understanding this inflammation process will help you to see there are certain things you can do to avoid getting pimples. For example, be sure to avoid putting greasy products on your face or other affected areas that will add to the plugged-up condition of your skin pores.

Acne is no respecter of persons. People of all races and ages can be afflicted by it. However, there is a genetic factor and some people are more susceptible to suffering from acne due to hereditary issues.

Hormones usually bring on acne during puberty, but becoming an adult does not necessarily make you immune to developing pimples.

There are a number of products on the market that can help you with acne, but one size doesn't fit all. A product that may work very well for one person may not work at all for you. You may need to experiment with a number of different medications to find the right one.

Different acne products do different things. For example, some acne products specialize in unplugging the pores of your skin. Other products dry up your complexion -- which may help you to experience clearer skin. Some products offer a number of different ways to help you fight acne. Be sure to stick with a product long enough to see if it's actually helping you. However, move on to another product if after several weeks of consistently using a product -- it isn't clearing up your skin.

Don't get discouraged while you're searching for just the right acne product. Remember that there are products out there that can help you to get rid of acne, but you'll need to be patient and persevere until you find just the right one.

If you have scarring from acne, there are procedures that can help the scars to be less noticeable or even to go away. One of the most effective and newest options is acne laser treatment. It can help replace scarred skin with new healthy skin that is underneath it.

It's essential that you help yourself to clearer skin by keeping your face scrupulously clean and that you eat wholesome foods and avoid greasy junk foods -- if you want to win your war with acne. Also be sure to get enough exercise and adequate sleep. Living a healthy lifestyle will eventually show up on your skin!

Winning your own personal war with acne will not be an easy and quick fix. But clear skin is a prize that is worth the effort.

Facing Sun Effects

A secret has been revealed in the news over the past few weeks. I was a part of that secret. What was the secret you ask? Men are now using skin care products as a part of their daily activities!

I started a few months ago due to something I learned about myself. I had my picture taken. Not just a standard picture. I had my picture taken with a special ultraviolet camera and light that shows damaged skin due to excessive sun exposure. First they took a picture of my face with standard light. Although not a flattering picture, it looked like I expected. Then they took a picture of my face with the ultraviolet light. What did I look like? I looked like I had a face FULL of freckles. Only these freckles weren't the cute ones that would have showed up in the first picture. They showed that I have a significant amount of sun damage. I guess my early years of working and playing outside all summer long with little or no sun protection is catching up with me.

It is common knowledge that sun damaged skin will cause premature signs of aging skin (wrinkling, "leathery" appearance and feel, etc.) as well as being a cause of skin cancer. So, I decided to do something about it. One of those things is to take better care of my skin. I am using skin care products that have a sunscreen built in. These same products also contain enzymes that can help speed cell renewal in sun damaged skin.

Yes, the secret is out. I am using skin care products every day. My wife says my complexion is also better because of it. I look forward to having my picture taken in the future. Maybe my complexion isn't the only thing that is improving.

Simple Skin Care Tips To Apply Often

When it comes to the skin, many people ignore it. It's perhaps one of the most versatile parts of the body, and yet it's ignored often. From head to toe, it's easy to ignore certain aspects of this element on the body. If you're looking at caring for your body, and you want to ensure your skin is absolutely radiant, you'll want to look  the following tips that can help you get moving forward with just that. These are simple skin care tips that you can start working with right now.

Moisturize Your Skin With Natural Lotions

There are a lot of lotions in the aisles of stores today. Look at the ingredients. You may not be able to pronounce a lot of them. If you see something that you can't pronounce, move on. Look for options that have herbal, botanical, and natural ingredients. That is going to help you get the most out of your skincare, and you will not have to deal with harsh chemicals. If you don't do this, you could be putting something harsh on your skin, and that could cause irritation. When irritation sets in, expect to deal with break outs, rashes, burning, and even peeling. It's just not worth going through.

Never Forget Sunscreen

This may seem obvious to some, but there are a lot of people that don't think about it. Sunscreen is going to save you time and time again. You should look at putting it on in the morning, then applying it again at mid-day and towards the evening hours. You should never go forward without this on your skin, as it could very well save you from burning. If you have sunburn, immediately reach for aloe vera gels to heel the elements. Just one sunburn could cause your skin to flake, peel, and cause serious damage to the cells.

Wash Your Face With Specific Soaps

Here's the one thing that you are going to need to remember, don't wash your face with any old soap. Some people assume that they can use bar soap on their face. That's not good. You'll find that this will dry out your pores and cause problems down the line. Instead, look for a facial cleanser and use a moisturizing soap. You'll find that "foam" options can work best here. You want to ensure that your skin is not left dry, cracked, and flaking as a result of harsh chemicals found in traditional bar soaps.

At the end of the day, you're going to find that the tips above seem obvious. They can be. However, many people read these and don't apply them. They just assume that they are not part of the bigger picture. Skin care starts with simple steps, and continues through a lifetime of applications. If you treat your skin right, it will last a long time, and you will not have to worry about issues like skin cancer, or sunburns that can cause a tremendous amount of pain. Use these tips often, and you'll no doubt see great things.

5 Essential Tips To Keep Your Skin Glowing In Winter

Winter weather is harsh on every inch of your skin, most especially the exposed parts of your face, hands and feet. Cold temperatures, low humidity, and dry air strip your skin of much-needed moisture. Additionally, hot showers, long baths, and central heating, also contribute to causing dry, sore, and flaky skin or even eczema.

If you don't take adequate care, your skin will dry out and feel tighter than usual. You, therefore, need to pay closer attention to skin care in winter than during any other season. Below are useful winter skin care tips that will keep your skin smooth and supple.

Keeping your skin well moisturized is the cardinal rule of all winter skin care tips. In winter, your skin needs more hydrated than ever before. Apply a moisturizer immediately after taking a shower, washing your hands or face. The longer you wait, the more your skin dries out.

Always keep a moisturizer nearby, and generously use it after every wash. More importantly, massage your hands and feet with a deep moisturizing lotion every night. Hands, elbows, and feet have very few oil glands and tend to dry out more. Wear socks and gloves to lock in the moisture.

Use oil-based moisturizers

Remember to use an oil-based moisturizer during the winter months. Oil creates a better seal on your skin than water-based products. Opt for non-clogging oil lotions and night creams with shea butter, lavender, chamomile, primrose, avocado or almond oils. Creams that contain sorbitol or glycerine are also a plus. Avoid petroleum-based products and harsh cleansers that contain salicylic or glycolic acids, since they tend to dry out your skin.

Your Lips gets dried too

It is also essential to take care of your lips to prevent them from becoming chapped and dried. Using a natural lip balm with natural oils such as grapeseed, coconut, shea butter to lock in the moisture and keep your lips from becoming cracked.

Apply sunscreen

We tend to think sunscreen is only necessary for summer. However, the winter sun coupled with glare from the snow can damage your skin. UV rays that causes sunburn will ruin your exposed skin even on cloudy days. Apply a sunscreen with a high sun protection factor rating (SPF) for better results. Keep your face and hands protected from the sun and cold wind by wearing a hat, scarf and gloves.

Turn on the humidifier

Central heating may keep us warm and cozy in winter, but the dry, hot air it blasts through our homes and offices dries out the skin. In fact, any heating, whether wood, oil or electric, will dry out the skin. Turn on the humidifier every day to add moisture to the air. Install smaller units around the house, especially in the bedroom for better results.

Stay hydrated

Drinking more water in winter may sound unnatural. After all, taking a glass of water is not the first choice on a cold day. We all love our hot chocolate and lattes in winter. However, these hot drinks may keep us warm, but as diuretics, they make us lose water. Try and drink more water, even when not thirsty.

You may warm the water and add some a squeeze of lemon for a refreshing taste. Eating water-laden fruits and vegetables such as watermelon, oranges, tomatoes, and cucumbers will also help you stay hydrated. Furthermore, your skin needs vitamins and other nutrients in fresh vegetables to stay smooth and supple.

It is also important to use natural skin care products that will add moisture to your skin keeping it soft and smooth and prevent drying which can lead to damage and age your skin.

Try these five essential winter skincare tips. You will be surprised to see how implementing them can keep your skin hydrated during the harsh weather for a soft, supple and glowing skin.

Healthy snack for kids

"Mom, I'm hungry". If you got a rupee every time your kid said that to you; you'd be a millionaire by now.

Kids' ability to develop an appetite at any hour of the day is just amazing. Be it the after-school mini meal, or the evening snack after play, they love their daily quota of munching! We've all gone through the same phase of growing up.

However, arranging healthy food for kids always might not be that easy. This binging in between meals is actually the biggest reason behind obesity in children. While you may find it hard to turn down their snacking demands, you can always make sure what they're eating is healthy. After all, the habit of healthy eating in children starts from home.

Whip your kids some tasty home-made snacks, that are as easy as making instant noodles, but a whole lot more nutritious! Make your children's health your priority with these healthy snacks:

Fruit Flavoured Milk:

Milk and fruits are a good way to substitute chips and soda for that evening snack. Make it great by blending them both together! Use fruits like strawberries, peaches, or mixed berries with low-fat milk to make a delicious glass of Fruit-Shake, filled to the brim with healthiness.

Oatmeal pancakes:

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It's also the most rushed. Make the most of every second by whipping up a super-fast pancake made with oat flour. Served with eggs, they take less than 5 minutes to make. The carbohydrates and proteins make it good food for the kids.

Green Kebabs:

Feeding green vegetables to kids is like taking on the toughest job on the planet. Fool them into eating spinach and peas by cooking up some healthy 'green' kebabs. Put in some potatoes for a balanced meal. They make excellent finger foods for kids and can be served any time of the day.

Yoghurt Dessert:

Swap that unhealthy ice-cream sundaes laden with fats and sugar with a cupful of fruit yogurt. Sweeten some Greek yogurt with some honey, mix in berries, and freeze it like popsicles. Dessert suddenly becomes a healthy food for the kids.

Sweet-Potato chips:

When hunger strikes, kids usually reach out for bags of potato chips. Give chips a healthy twist by using sweet potato instead of potato. Don't fry them, instead, bake them until crispy, and serve them with homemade coriander sauce.

As much as we like to keep our kids happy, we also like to see them healthy. Junk food might be the easiest option when it comes to snacks, but it does more harm than good to your childern's health. So grab that apron, and just take 5 minutes out of your busy schedule to rustle up some healthy snacks. Who said healthy food can't be fun?.

Dry skin remedies to protect your skin

Many people have skin which is extremely dry. However, they make a common mistake of thinking that this is their skin's natural disposition. They don't take any measures to control the dryness of their skin and therefore keep suffering from dryness and itchiness. It is very important to know the kind of skin type that you have, as this will help you in treating it accordingly. Take the help of health magazines, internet forums, friends and family to ascertain the skin type which you have. There are many ways in which you can tackle the naturally dry skin. This does not involve any chemical products and their side effects, and some potential solutions are discussed below.

Avoid taking long baths: If you suffer from dry skin, avoid taking very long and hot baths. Take a quick 15 minute bath and allow your skin to dry. Do not rub your skin as it can cause rashes on it. Also use a moisturizer when your skin is a little moist after a bath as it will help in locking the moisture better in the pores.

Use very mild cleansers: Use gentle cleansers and soap for washing. Avoid any product which have fragrances, alcohol and parabens in it. This may cause your skin to dry up all the more. The harsh chemicals present in very strong products can damage the health of the skin in the long term if used too often. So you should use soaps made with natural ingredients.

Use natural oils: Oils such as olive oil, Jojoba oil or coconut oil should be massaged onto your skin. Dry skin can absorb these oils as they have very small molecules. These oils also help in making your skin softer and suppler. Other natural products such as Cynergy TK are also helpful. Cynergy TK is also responsible for the production of keratin in your skin as well as brightening the overall tone of your skin.
Therefore, you can use any of these above given natural products to treat your dry skin. Do not be careless and do not ignore your skin. It can cause you a lot of needless discomfort in the long run.

Milk: Milk has anti-inflammatory properties which can help dry and scaly skin. The lactic acid present in milk exfoliates the dead skin and act as moisturizer by retaining moisture.

By following the above mentioned remedies, you can take care of your dry skin by using natural products and natural oils and soaps with natural ingredients.
